In North-West Iceland just off shore stands the majestic Hvítserkur, a 15m high basalt stack. Icelandic legend has it that the rock was a troll who forgot to retreat from the light & was turned to stone at sunrise. Though, from some angles, the rock itself looks like some sort of dragon, or rhino drinking from the ocean.
On Day 2 we were granted a stormy afternoon on low tide. The ripples in the black sand just made for the perfect foreground interest leading up to our petrified troll. We decided to do a 10 minute long exposure & love how it turned out!
