Mount Cook is arguably the best and biggest mountain in the whole of the South Island. It is so unique and sits high above the surrounding peaks and a favourite challenge for mountain climbers. Aoraki / Mount Cook consists of three summits lying slightly south and east of the main divide, the Low Peak, Middle Peak and High Peak.
We visited here a few times and failed more times than we’d like to mention, but we were determined to get the perfect shot. One morning we decided to trial a long exposure as the clouds had this incredible whispy look to them and they were moving fast across the ranges. The result was some incredible colours and a really ‘moody image’. This is one of our favourite shots to date and something we’ll never forget.
