Motukiekie Rocks, West Coast, New Zealand. #3

from 200.00

This would have to be one of our favourite places to shoot in the South Island!

Yes, that sounds like a big claim to make, but this incredible location is something you won’t see on a tourist map and yet has everything a Seascape Photographer could ask for...massive rock stacks, beautiful sunsets & wait for it...starfish!

That’s right, at certain times of the year these incredible orange starfish appear. But to be able to photograph this amazing spectacle you need to plan ahead. Our trip was based around the tides for this location. The tide has to be VERY low. This was taken at 0.3 of a metre at 5:35pm. At 5:55pm after this shot was taken, we were almost stranded by the dangerously fast rising tide. Karlie opted to do a Long Exposure of 4 minutes with this shot which we feel complimented the scene. But was it all worth it? We will let you decide…
