Þórshöfn, Iceland

from 240.00

The one thing you dream of when visiting the Arctic Circle is that the green lady will appear on a clear night, at least once in your trip.

The weather this winter in Iceland has been woeful to say the least (above average temps, lots of rain & cloud cover). A few nights ago the forecast for Aurora looked promising, so we decided to take a gamble & drive 6 hours to the clearest part of the country in the NE to this dream spot that we've known about for quite some time.

For those familiar with Iceland, you may already know of the DC-3 plane in the south (made famous to some by the Justin Bieber video). The less well known wreckage in the north east is located on private property & very few people know of it's existence or whereabouts.

With permission from the farmer, (who now uses the plane for shelter for his horses & sheep…yes, you read that right lol) wasn't aware of anyone himself who'd captured Aurora over the plane wreckage. We could not believe our luck when we got down there & saw the Aurora right overhead, almost as if it was streaming out of the plane wreck itself.
