This beautifully shaped & symmetric, free standing mountain, is easily one of the most stunning peaks in Iceland. Kirkjufell rises 463m above the sea & something we’d been dreaming of capturing for almost 7 years.
One evening a few weeks back, the Aurora forecast was high & this part of Iceland was the only clear spot with no clouds so we made haste & headed here before sunset. Shortly after the last light of day, the northern lights exploded with green in the sky! But we wanted to capture something different & went exploring amongst the wetlands. The night was perfectly still & we noticed this small pool of water & loved the reflection of the aurora & mountain. The light you see on the peak is from the moon setting behind the mountains behind us. The composition was perfect & we are so happy with how it turned out…
