Dogs Rocks, VIC. Australia

from 130.00

WOW! We’ve been dying to share this image with you! On our journey photographing landscapes across Australia, we’ve seen so many beautiful locations but this place is something very special.

The Dog Rocks themselves, are an outcrop of Devonian granite which intruded some 350 million years ago. The Dog Rocks Flora & Fauna Sanctuary, near Geelong, was established when the current owner George Belcher’s great grandfather purchased the property in 1856. The Belcher Family has preserved this as a Sanctuary for over a century & recently negotiated a covenant with the 'Trust for Nature' to ensure that this incredible part of our country remains as it is for future generations. So as you can tell, this place is something very special & we wanted to photograph it accordingly. One morning when we arrived the clouds looked surreal overhead so we opted to shoot it shortly after sunrise with a 10 minute long exposure. It’s always such a risk taking an image this long & potentially 'missing the moment’ but it worked out perfectly. It looks almost like something out of a Salvador Dali art painting!
